Trip preparations are in full swing now. I have spent two weekends fitting out the back of the car with a cargo barrier, shelf, two drawers, auxiliary battery and a fridge drop slide to provide access for the vertically challenged members of the family.
Last weekend was our first test run with the installed gear when we spent our Easter holiday in Wonboyn (near Eden) trying to catch fish.
All this additional equipment in the back of the car has added so much weight that I had to get the suspension fitted with stronger (and longer) springs.
We are slowly transferring a lot of stuff into the caravan and ticking off items on our to do list which is gradually getting shorter. However, there is still a lot left to do - fit a UHF radio, get a second jerry can, mount the roof rack, fit roof bags and jerry can holders, etc.
We have 2 more weeks before we depart and it can't come soon enough - it's getting cold and I find myself checking the weather report of Kalbarri, Port Hedland and Broome and day dreaming about catching big fish up north.
